Turnstyle CIC is a community interest company that works with young people and adults to provide mentoring, movement-based programmes, and personal development support.

We are the Data Controller for the personal information we collect and use about you.

2. The information we collect

We may collect and store the following types of information:

  • Basic details: Name, address, phone number, email, date of birth, gender.

  • Background information: School, referral details, support needs, emergency contact details.

  • Sensitive information (special category data): Health information, neurodivergence (e.g. ADHD, autism), ethnicity, religion — but only where relevant to supporting you.

  • Criminal justice information: Offence details, risk information, probation orders — only where relevant to delivering our work.

3. How we collect your information

We collect information from:

  • Referral forms completed by schools, probation, or other agencies.

  • Information you give us directly (in person, by phone, by email, or through our website).

  • Partner agencies that have your consent to share information with us.

4. Why we collect it and our legal basis

We only collect and use your information where we have a legal basis to do so under UK GDPR. This will usually be:

  • Consent – You agree to share your information with us to receive our support.

  • Legitimate interests – We need to use your information to deliver our services effectively and safely.

  • Legal obligation – We are required by law to share certain information (e.g. safeguarding concerns).

5. How we use your information

We use your information to:

  • Arrange and deliver mentoring sessions or activities.

  • Understand your needs and tailor support to you.

  • Keep you and others safe.

  • Monitor and evaluate our services for quality and funding purposes.

6. Who we share your information with

We only share your personal information when necessary and with your consent, unless we are legally required to do so. We may share with:

  • Referral partners (e.g. schools, probation services).

  • Funding bodies (anonymised, unless otherwise agreed).

  • Safeguarding agencies (if required to protect you or others).

7. How we keep your information safe

Your information is stored securely in password-protected systems and/or locked cabinets. Only authorised Turnstyle staff have access to your personal data.

8. How long we keep your information

We will keep your personal information for no longer than 3 years after the end of your involvement with Turnstyle, unless required by law to keep it longer. After that, it will be securely deleted or anonymised.

9. Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the information we hold about you.

  • Ask us to correct anything that is wrong.

  • Ask us to delete your information (where possible).

  • Ask us to stop using your information in certain ways.

  • Ask for your information to be sent to another provider (data portability).
